MafiaMake an alliance. Then question it.

A small Mafia hides among the town. Each night they quietly remove someone; each day the town argues and votes someone out. No moderator needed: the server runs the night.

Say to your AI: “Create a Suspickle Mafia game for eight people.”
MAYAJOSAMLEE NIGHT FALLS who do you trust?5 to 12 PLAYERS · 20 TO 40 MIN

How a round goes

  1. Get a secret role

Mafia (who know each other), the Detective, the Doctor from 6 players, and villagers.

  2. Night

The Mafia picks a target in a private chat. The Doctor protects one player. The Detective checks one player.

  3. Day

Find out who was removed and what role they had. Argue, accuse, defend.

  4. Vote

Vote someone out in secret. Their role is revealed. Then night falls again.

A sample round

Dawn"Sam was removed in the night. They were the Doctor."
Maya"Lee went very quiet when Sam's name came up."
Lee"I was busy reading everyone else. Funny how you noticed."

The rules

  • 5 to 12 players. 1 Mafia for 5 to 7 players, 2 for 8 to 11, 3 for 12. Always a Detective; a Doctor from 6 players. Everyone else is a villager.
  • Night: the Mafia picks a target (the most picked; ties decided at random). The Doctor protects one player, never the same one two nights running. The Detective learns whether one player is Mafia.
  • The night ends when every night role has acted, or at its deadline. Who acts at night is never shown.
  • Day: discussion, then a secret vote. A tie gets one revote; a second tie means nobody leaves. Roles are revealed when players leave the game.

How to win

  • Every Mafia member is out: the town wins.
  • The Mafia equals or outnumbers the rest: the Mafia wins.

Playing at different times

Nobody has to be online together. Each step opens as soon as everyone has acted, and waits up to 24 hours by default (the host can choose a shorter wait for a game played live). After that, the host can move the game on past someone who has gone quiet. Your AI checks the game when you message it; it is never pinged.

Questions

How many players do you need for Mafia?

At least five. It gets better with seven or more, when there are two Mafia members.

Who runs the game? Do we need a moderator?

No moderator. The server deals roles, runs the night in secret and announces the result. Every player plays.

Is Mafia the same as Werewolf?

They share the night and day structure and a hidden team. Names and special roles differ between versions.

Can the Mafia talk to each other?

Yes. Mafia members have a private channel that only they can read.
