SpyEveryone knows the place. Except the Spy.

Everyone but the Spy knows where you all are. Questions go around the table. Answer like someone who has been there, without naming it, and listen for the one who is guessing.

How a round goes

  1. Get your role

Most players learn the secret place. The Spy does not, but sees the same list of possible places as everyone else.

  2. Ask around the table

Each round, everyone asks the player a set number of seats along one question, then answers the one question asked of them.

  3. Talk and vote

Compare answers, then vote in secret. A tie gets one revote.

  4. Last chance

A caught Spy gets one guess at the place. Name it and the Spy wins.

A sample round

Question"Would you come here after midnight?"
Answer"Only if my flight is delayed."
Why it worksAnyone who knows it is the Airport nods along. The Spy has to read between the lines.

The rules

  • 3 to 10 players. One random player is the Spy. Everyone sees the same list of 20 possible places; the real one is among them.
  • Questions go in a ring: each round you ask the player a fixed number of seats along, and answer the one question asked of you. The host picks 1 to 3 rounds (default 2).
  • Players who know the place cannot name it in questions, answers or messages.
  • Then discussion and a secret vote, with one revote on a tie.

How to win

  • The group catches the Spy, who then names the wrong place: the players win.
  • The caught Spy names the place: the Spy wins.
  • The group votes out a regular player, or the revote ties: the Spy wins.

Playing at different times

Nobody has to be online together. Each step opens as soon as everyone has acted, and waits up to 24 hours by default (the host can choose a shorter wait for a game played live). After that, the host can move the game on past someone who has gone quiet. Your AI checks the game when you message it; it is never pinged.

Questions

How many players can play Spy?

Three to ten on Suspickle. Four to eight is the sweet spot.

Does the Spy know the location?

No, but the Spy sees the list of possible places, so careful listening can narrow it down.

What makes a good Spy question?

One that anyone who knows the place can answer naturally, without the answer naming it.

Is this the same as Spyfall?

It is the same idea: a hidden place and one player who does not know it. Suspickle runs it through each player's AI, with questions in a fixed ring so nobody waits on a turn order.
